Abstract

Introduction: There are currently no data on the use of the wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) in left ventricular assist device (LVAD) patients for the protection from sudden cardiac death (SCD). We aimed to review data available on the use of the WCD in LVAD patients. Methods: The WCD Medical Order Registry was screened for patients with implanted LVAD at the time of WCD use. Indication for WCD use in this cohort, compliance data, arrhythmia events, and end of use decision are reported. Conclusions: In this first clinical experience of the WCD in LVAD patients, WCD use was feasible in the majority of the patients. WCD might be an alternative for temporary monitoring and protection from SCD in LVAD patients.
