Abstract

Emergency Departments (ED) are the primary source of healthcare for many patients with sexually transmitted infections (STIs). STIs cases have reached the highest numbers ever recorded. Expedited partner therapy (EPT) is the evidence-based practice of treating partner(s) of patients with STIs without an exam. Despite the high patient need, EPT has had limited uptake in the ED. We evaluated barriers and facilitators for the ED’s use of EPT.
