Abstract

The translated Syriac apocalyptic text is preserved in a single biblical manuscript of twelfth century containing Prophets, British Library Add. 18,715; within manuscript it follows after and so was considered by scribe as having, to some extent, status of a biblical book. The work is provided with title, Again, Daniel on our Lord and on End, and adjective small has been taken as referring to Daniel's age on basis of Susanna verse 45, and so work is usually referred to as the Young Daniel, though its position in manuscript might also suggest that title should be taken in sense of the of Daniel. The text was first edited and translated, and later in DiTommaso's massive study The Book of Daniel and Apocryphal Daniel Literature ; very recently Balzaretti has published an Italian translation. Keywords: Balzaretti; biblical manuscript; British Library; Susanna verse; Syriac apocalyptic text; Young Daniel
