Abstract

An approach to the design and excavation of highway slopes in hard rock is outlined. This involves optimisation of the slope in terms of the geotechnical conditions and the use of an excavation technique which will minimise disturbance. The approach is considered to have potential in other contexts. For the covering abstract of the symposium see IRRD 286603. (Author/TRRL)
