Abstract

A reassessment has been made of the influence of time, temperature, pH and nature of stabilizing agents in the bleaching of cotton by hydrogen peroxide. It has been found that, by using magnesium complexes as stabilizing agents, a very large increase in efficiency can be obtained, as compared wiith the normal hydrogen peroxide bleaching recipe1 There are also indications that aluminium metal should prove a suitable material for the construction of the peroxide bleaching plant.
