Abstract
It is desirable to optimize the fiber orientation angles to maximize the fundamental frequencies of the fiber reinforced plastic plates. The optimization is studied here by using the experimental design for nonlinear problems, and it turned out that significantly less number of calculations is necessary as compared to other methods, such as a layerwise optimization approach (LOA). The numerical examples show that assumption of appropriate level values is efficient to obtain the optimum frequency in the vibration problem.
