Abstract

Fibromyalgia in adults (FM) and juvenile-onset FM (JFM) are often accompanied by mood and anxiety disorders. Major depressive disorder (MDD) is more common in adult FM (62%) than JFM in adolescents (22%), whereas anxiety disorders are common across development (approximately 60% prevalence). Little is known about psychiatric comorbidity of young adults with a history of JFM and whether mood difficulties are associated with FM status. This study examined the prevalence of mood and anxiety disorders in young adults diagnosed with JFM.
