Abstract

During the sixty-seventh session of the UNGA, environmental issues were discussed under three items in the Plenary. These items included subheadings under sustainable development (Agenda Item 20); 2001–10: decade to roll back malaria in developing countries, particularly in Africa (Agenda Item 13); and integrated and co-ordinated implementation of and follow-up to the outcomes of the major United Nations conferences and summits in the economic, social, and related fields (Agenda Item 14). In the sixty-eighth session of the UNGA, the Plenary topics related to the environment were under headings such as strengthening of international co-operation and co-ordination of efforts to study, mitigate, and minimize the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster (Agenda Item 70d); oceans and the law of the sea (Agenda Item 76); follow-up to the outcome of the Millennium Summit (Agenda Item 118); and global health and foreign policy (Agenda Item 126). The Plenary of the sixty-seventh session adopted four resolutions under the agenda items mentioned earlier, without a reference to the main committee.
