Abstract

The decontaminability and the optimum conditions were studied on the flocculation of rodioactive contaminoted sea water containing radioisotopes of F.P. components. Flocculation is one of the best methods of treating high salt content liquid waste. The results obtained showed that 137Cs and 106Ru were removed to the extent of 99% with 500ppm of copper ferrocyanide (Cu2[Fe(CN)6])floc at pH5-6, whie 144Ce, 147Pm and 95Zr-95Nb Were also removed by 99% With 500ppm of calcium phosphate (Ca3(PO4)2) floc at pH 10-11, and 90Sr-90Y could be removed to an extent of over 90% with 2, 000ppm of Ca3(PO4)2 accompanied with 500ppm of Sr(NO3)2 at pH 10-11.Addition of a high polymer coagulant, poly acryl amide, did not enhance at all the decontaminability of the flocculation. It may possibly be effective in the treatment of flocculation sludge to support the growth of sedimentation floc.
