Abstract

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is now recognized as a systemic inflammatory condition and has been associated with cardiac risk factors and outcomes, especially among adults with severe AD. Guidelines recommend enhanced cardiovascular (CV) screening for children with chronic inflammatory diseases but do not currently include AD. Thus, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine whether AD is associated with CV risk factors and outcomes in patients ≤ 18 years of age. We searched PubMed, Web of Science, CINAHL, and EMBASE through April 7, 2021 and included all observational studies with AD as an exposure and at least one risk marker or CV disease outcome.
