Abstract

The effect of fretting on fatigue strength of GFRP were experimentally examined under the tensile cyclic load. Fretting fatigue tests were carried out using the GFRP specimen which was contacted with the SUS304 stainless steel pad. Fretting fatigue tests were run while measuring the relative slip amplitude, the contact pressure, the tangential force between the specimen and the contact pad. From the test results, the specimen failed at the fretting region in the contact area between specimen and pad. It was found that the relative slip amplitude, the contact pressure, the tangential force changed with the number of cyclic loads, and their were depend on the stress amplitude.
