Abstract

In order to grasp the inner structure of three dimensional data efficiently, various volume visualization techniques have been widely used. However, appropriate parameter values for such visualization techniques are difficult to be chosen without taking into account the features of volume data. We have developed a method for setting parametter values by analyzing the topological transitions of the isosurfaces within the volumetric domain. In this paper, we apply the topological framework to a 2D fluid dataset so that in the physical meaning of the topological structure and fluid data is associated.
