Abstract

This chapter summarizes the changes in public interest law in 2008. It examines the period from November 1, 2007 to November 15, 2008. The struggle against discrimination has been a key domain in public interest litigation. Similar to previous years, public interest litigation in 2008 concentrated on countering discrimination against hepatitis B positive individuals. Public interest litigation challenging unreasonable charges and other practices of state organs is common. On May 1, 2008, the ?Regulations on the Disclosure of Government Information was promulgated. For a short period after the regulation was passed, a series of public interest litigation cases concerning information disclosure appeared.
