15. Inhomogenität von ägyptischer Sprache und Schrift in Texten aus dem späten Ägypten

Abstract

The finding of homogeneity is more complicated, as there is on the one hand a number of cases where linguistically classically Egyptian texts are set purely graphically into Demotic, on the other hand demotic language can be written in hieroglyphic and hieratic religious, literary and scientific texts. This chapter looks at the Greco-Roman Egypt in his speech and written statements, in principle, a situation of diglossia, as has been described on several occasions. Demotic as writing system comes on in the early 26th dynasty. The new writing system, however, is initially primarily in use for administrative documents. The linguistic and source moderately inconsistent version was increasingly transferred in the course of copying the Demotic, especially in the already linguistically demotic passages, but partly also in the Middle Egyptian text relics.
