Abstract
In the last 15years, an impressive number of biomass-fired Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) combined heat and power (CHP) systems have been installed in Europe. At present (2016) more than 300 plants are in operation or under construction, mainly in Europe but also in North America and Asia. The main applications are: district heating, sawmills, the wood-based industry, and the pellet production industry.
