Abstract

In recent years, OLED displays have been widely used in smartphones, in‐vehicle displays, and so on. Such applications require a dimming function that responds to external ambient light. It is also necessary to achieve precise gradation and color reproducibility in low luminance levels in dark environments. In this paper, we address two problems of gradation collapse in low luminance levels during low luminance dimming using PWM‐ driven duty ratio control, and color shift due to current leakage between sub‐pixels. In addition, we propose a correction method for improving gradation reproducibility and color reproducibility, using luminance correction.
