Abstract

To inform psychotropic medication oversight for children in foster care, Georgia conducted clinical evaluations of a sample of children under age 5 years in foster care. Based on these preliminary data, the examination expanded to Medicaid claims data on the prevalence of psychotropic medications for all children in foster care in Georgia. The prescribing trends between 2012 and 2016 helped assess the oversight protocols.
