Abstract

One method to measure the 2-dimensional velocity distribution has been proposed. This method is based on the fact that the 2nd order moment of temporally integrated laser speckle depends on the velocity of the object and the sampling time. By using a TV camera which has an integration effect for the incident light, the measurement system is compactly constructed, and it is experimentally shown that the 2-dimen-sional velocity distribution of fluid flow can be measured within a short measuring time.
