Abstract

Managed care organizations (MCOs) have the responsibility to monitor utilization of behavioral health services and psychotropic medications, along with quality and safety of care, and can use their data to develop quality improvement activities (QIAs). Community Care Behavioral Health Organization, a public behavioral health MCO (BH-MCO), developed a QIA regarding pediatric polypharmacy, because the use of concurrent psychotropics has limited evidence raising quality and safety concerns.
