Abstract
Social cognition, reward processing, and motivation are associated in ways which are not yet fully understood. For example, social and monetary reward learning share overlapping neural substrates in humans, and both forms of learning are impaired in schizophrenia. We hypothesized that social cognition impairments in schizophrenia impede ecologically meaningful reward processing and contribute to decreased motivation and reduced functioning.
