Abstract

New emerging flexible light sources (FLS) have a variety of features that boost their usage. The issues of FLSs with small radii are resolved for arbitrary curvatures and the differences between flat and curved light sources are explained. We found that the change in curvature radius of a FLS, either convex or concave, results a defocus issue, a change in emission surface, a variation of luminous intensity distribution and a change in etendue of the FLS. The effect of curvature on the optical properties of curved OLEDs as FLSs are verified in experiments.
