Abstract

Facial palsy is not uncommon and has a wide range of aetiologies. We present a case of a 34 year old gentleman who was referred to the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department regarding an intraoral pigmented lesion. On examination the patient presented with an incidental finding of left sided facial weakness. Further questioning revealed a 6 week history of weakness preceded by dental extraction of the lower left first molar. An MRI head revealed a significant Chiari I malformation.
