Abstract
In youth with ASD, family dynamics including functioning, support, and knowledge about ASD play a role in determining outcomes. One relationship that could be a potential focus in therapy is that of typically developing siblings of children with ASD. It is important to understand how the sibling dyad may enhance functioning in the child with ASD, as well as in adjustment, self-concept, and mental health in the neurotypical sibling. This presentation will explore current knowledge about the impact on siblings as well as developing evidence-based practices on protective interventions.
