Abstract

Children with ASD frequently experience sleep problems. The most prominent sleep problem is insomnia, with difficulty falling asleep, difficulty maintaining sleep, and early morning awakenings. Insomnia is one of the most common reasons why parents seek medical intervention in children with ASD, and it may exacerbate daytime symptoms, as well as contribute to parental stress. Treatments for insomnia include behavioral interventions and pharmacotherapy. The objective of this presentation is to educate the attendees about the treatment options for sleep problems in children with ASD.
