Abstract
The difficulties involved in handling small specimens of human hard tooth tissues and the problems connected with correcting the deformation used in the calculation of the elastic modulus possibly account for the differences obtained in the traditional mechanical testing methods. To address these issues, we measured nondestructively elastic moduli of the human dentine and enamel form the permanent and milk tooth tissues using the pulse echo mode of the scanning acoustic microscope.
