Abstract

Background: Robotic-assistance is gaining popularity in rectal cancer surgery due to the technical difficulties associated with the laparoscopic approach. This presentation will discuss the current evidence base for robotic-assisted rectal cancer surgery, its potential advantages and disadvantages, and recent data from the MRC/EME/NIHR ROLARR randomised controlled trial comparing robotic with laparoscopic rectal cancer resection.
