Abstract
Since our speech and language clinic started in 1977, a total of 1397 persons visited the clinic by 1989. Statistical study on the numbers of clients per year, age, sex, types of disorder, effect of speech therapy. There were about 100 clients per year. Distributions of clients with the type of disorder were, delayed language 28.6%, aphasia 13.7%, disarthria 12.1%, functional articulation disorder 8.4%, hard of hearing 7.5%, cleft palate 6.1%, stuttering 4.9%, voice disorders 3.9% and others 8.9%. The distribution of age differed depending on the type of disorder. As a total, there were more male clients than female. This tendency was marked especially in the groups of stuttering, delayed language, and aphasia. Five hundred twenty four patients received speech therapy, and 62% showed improvement.
