Abstract
Meeting is the most useful communication tool in any institution or large company as it assists management and those in authority to coordinate activities and facilitates the normal flow of business. This chapter discusses meetings and meeting procedure for tertiary students and businessmen in general. Meetings may be divided into two main categories, that is, public and private meetings. Private meetings may be either formal or informal. All meetings held to discuss matters of socioeconomic importance are called public meetings. These may be any lawful meeting convened for the purpose of discussing and advancing matters of common concern. National conferences, political meetings, public religious meetings, conferences, congresses, symposiums, and seminars are all examples of meetings. Private meetings are only for authorized members or people who have been lawfully invited to attend such meetings, in an advisory capacity. This category includes regular meetings of school boards, city councils, church councils, divisional councils, dairy boards, meat boards, private clubs, and various other committees and boards.
