Abstract
The Heart Failure Clinic (HFC) opened its doors in Fall of 2002. Today, there are 5.3 million people and 660,000 new cases anually. HF is the only cardiac condition increasing in prevalence with a projected 10 million patients in the US by 2037. Over 2/3 of HF hospitalizations are preventable with 24% atributed to dietary nonadherence. There continues to be a pervasive knowledge deficit concerning sodium content of food. Currently the average sodium intake is 3,400 mg per day with up to 6,000 mgs daily.
