Abstract

In chronic heart failure (HF) models, we investigated whether stem cell transplantation would affect myocardial electrophysiology. Japanese white ears rabbits were divided into health group (n=8) and HF group, the latter including bone marrow stromal cells transplantation (MSC) group (n=8), skeletal myoblasts transplantation (SMs) group (n=6) and sham group (n=8). HF model was made by adriamycin. Autologous MSC or SMs were introduced into coronary arteies by occluding the root of ascending aorta. After 4 weeks, the electrophysiological properties of transplanted hearts were assessed. In MSC group, the dispersion of effective refractory period had tendency of prolongation. MSC or SMs transplantation caused extension of activation time (AT) and exacerbation of AT dispersion during burst or presystolic pacing. In MSC group, an episode of spontaneous ventricular tachycardia was observed. Conclusion:Abnormal properties of myocardial electrical conduction are rendered by stem cell transplantation.
