Abstract

Purified bovine fibrinogen preparations were radioiodinated with 125I using the Chloramine-T method and examined for degradation by clottability assays and agarose gel filtration. In vivo plasma clearance studies were also conducted using healthy mixed breed calves. The in vitro assays yielded an average clottability of 92.5% and chromatograms comparable to accepted norms for 125I-fibrinogen prepared by ICl and enzymatic methods. The clearance studies yielded an average half life of 5.1 ± 0.4 days for the major exponential component.
