Abstract

Lung Donor to recipient size matching is based on recipient's predicted Total Lung Capacity (TLC) adjusted for their actual TLC as measured by nitrogen washout (TLC-N2) or body box plethysmography (TLC-BB). However, many lung transplant (LT) candidates with end stage disease can't perform the manoeuvres required for pulmonary function tests (PFTs). As all candidates undergo thoracic CT scans during LT workup, we assessed utility of CT derived estimates of total lung volume (TLV-CT) as a surrogate of TLC.
