Abstract

As handheld ultrasound (US) devices have become more commonplace in the practice of emergency medicine (EM), this study aimed to compare the efficacy of a novel handheld ultrasound device (HHUD), the Butterfly IQ (Butterfly Network Inc., Guilford, CT), to that of a traditional high-end ultrasound system (HEUS), the Mindray TE7 (Mindray North America, Mahwah, NJ), in gaining peripheral intravenous (PIV) access on first attempt at an EM residency program.
