Abstract
We study the acoustic emission (AE) waves in a hcp polycrystalline metal under uniaxial tension to characterize the bursts. We measure the AE and then analyze the statistical properties such as the cumulative density functions of the maximum amplitude distribution and the avalanche size distribution, respectively. As a result, we found that these quantities follow power-law distributions with a cut-off tail, which exhibit an internal characteristic length scale in polycrystalline.
