Abstract

A self-powered active suspension, which uses energy regenerated by a damper to produce control force and requires no external energy, has been proposed by the authors. However this system needs a generator as well as an actuator and this makes the system complicated. Then the authors propose the system that carries out regeneration and active control with one actuator. The method to accomplish the two functions simultaneously is presented and the energy balance between regenerated and consumed energy is analyzed. The results indicate the proposed system is feasible.
