Abstract
This paper presents a mechanism for impinging deformation of molten droplets after they impinge onto the substrates by simulating plasma-sprayed coatings. The free fall experiments of molten droplets are done on the substrates with different roughness. The flattening process is evaluated by the unevenness and flattening ratio, which are analyzed by a high-speed video camera and image analysis. It was concluded that the surface roughness influences on both the flattening and unevenness ratio and that its influencing degree depends on the droplet properties.
