Abstract

This chapter focuses on the response of typical nonlinear elements to normally fluctuating inputs. A method is given for calculating various moments of the response of zero-memory nonlinear elements with piecewise linear characteristics when the input is a normal random process. Graphs and tables are given for a limiter that shows the dependence of the mean value, the dispersion, and the correlation function on various parameters. Elements having the piecewise linear characteristics are often used in computer and radio design. Neither the load reaction nor the time constants of subsequent linear stages, much less the correlation time of the effective fluctuations, can be neglected in certain cases.
