Abstract

Young children who struggle with managing and expressing emotions are at greater risk for psychopathology and behavior problems. At the same time, the ways in which parents model, express, and modulate their own emotions influences the development of child emotion regulation. The objective of the current study was to examine how children’s emotion regulation may mediate the association between maternal emotion dysregulation and child behavior problems in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
