Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes of melatonin, dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate(DHEA-S) and growth hormone(GH) associated with aging and stress hormone and body composition by 12weeks exercise in middle age female with overweight. Participants were 27 who were circuit exercise(n=9), aquarobics exercise(n=9), and control group(n=9). Blood samples were collected prior to exercise treatment and 12weeks post-exercise. melatonin levels significantly increased postexercise in circuit exercise; DHEA-S and GH levels significantly increased post-exercise in circuit exercise and aquarobics exercise. There were no significant differences of cortisol levels in all groups. Epinephrine and norepinephrine levels significantly decreased post-exercise in aquarobics exercise. But there were no significant differences in circuit exercise. The findings suggest that circuit exercise and aquarobics exercise can stimulate DHEA-S and GH production in middle age female with overweight and that stress hormonal responses to exercise type differ between circuit exercise and aquarobics exercise.
