Abstract

The normal state of LuNi 2 B 2 C, one member of a new family of intermetallic superconductors, has been probed by 11 B NMR. The 11 B nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate, 1/ T 1 , and the Knight shift have been measured between 20 and 350 K. It was found that 1/ T 1 T is more enhanced at low temperatures than the Knight shift, which has a weak temperature dependence. This result indicates that antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations contribute considerably to 1/ T 1 T at low temperatures in the normal state.
