Abstract

This chapter explores how Indigenous artists deal with the historical and ongoing genocidal violence against Indigenous people, particularly women and girls in two continents–Australia and North America–through their art. The chapter offers some insights into how the transformative function of art affects artists and the way they produce art as they respond to the specific and the broad issues of genocidal violence against Aboriginal women (Marcuse 2007, 173).
