Abstract

Pilot controls an airplane as watching outside view through its cockpit window. Although, for example, in a ground cockpit for an unmanned air vehicle and a windowless cockpit which is researched by NASA in USA, pilot controls the airplane, watching the displays. This study investigates using a fixed flight simulator how the virtual cues, which are obtained by modifying the real movement of outside view, have influences on pilot's handling qualities and task performance. This experimental result shows that task performance doesn't change so much but handling qualities are improved by the pertinent modification of virtual cues.
