Abstract

The importance of including skin flash in planning strategies for volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) of breast cancer has been proposed by various researchers in the past few years. Recently, the robust planning concept from proton therapy had also incorporated in photon radiotherapy. This may provide a wider scope to deal with uncertainties. This study aimed to compare the conventional manual skin flash (MF) approach with the novel robust optimization (RO) approach in terms of robustness in VMAT for breast cancer.
