Abstract

Enhanced Surveillance of Canadian Street Youth (E-SYS), an initiative of the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), has collected data from Canadian street-involved youth (SIY) since 1998 using nurse-administered surveys and laboratory testing. E-SYS data suggest that Canadian SIY carry a disproportionate burden of sexually transmitted infections (STI). Housing options available to Toronto SIY vary in stability and supervision; this study aimed to determine whether housing options offering more supervision and/or stability are associated with lower STI risk.
