Abstract

Objective: Functional neuroimaging techniques (e.g., FDG-PET, ictal SPECT, fMRI, MR spectroscopy) are routinely used in the evaluation of epilepsy surgery candidates. It is however not proven whether these tests might substitute a long-term implantation of intracranial electrodes, especially in pediatric cases. We verified the validity of functional neuroimaging in a 10-year-old girl using thorough intraoperative electrophysiological testing.
