Abstract

The relations between the velocity ratio in the die exit and the metal flow in the container from the steady stage to the end stage of extrusion process were investigated by experiments and finite-element method (FEM) simulation. The change in velocity ratio occurs from the discard thickness of about 2/3 of the container diameter, and it is confirmed that this change is caused by the change in metal flow. From these results, the analysis accuracy of the simulation techniques in this report and the availability of the simulation have been confirmed.
