Abstract

The characteristics of fatigue strength of thermally sprayed specimen with Ni-based selffluxing alloy were studied by rotational-bending fatigue tests in order to clarify the effect of surface conditions of substrate on fatigue properties. Three kinds of test pieces, which have different surface conditions of substrate, were examined. The fatigue fracture mechanism of thermally sprayed specimen was also examined using Scanning Electron Microscope. As a result of these fatigue tests, a type B blasted and sprayed specimen, which has the roughest surface conditions, showed the highest fatigue strength. On the other hand a sprayed specimen without blast treatment, which has the smooth surface conditions, showed the lowest fatigue strength.
