Abstract

The dispersion relations ε( k ∥) of surface states located around the Γ point in the 2-dimensional Brillouin zone on Cu(111) and Cu -Ni(111) random substitutional alloys have been determined by angle-resolved UV photoelectron spectroscopy. The changes in the k ∥ extent of the occupied surface states appear to follow closely the decrease in the [111] neck radius on the Fermi surface measured in earlier positron annihilation experiments.
