Abstract

The teachers referred to in this chapter include primary school teachers, junior high school teachers, senior high school teachers, and college and university teachers. Since the reform and opening up policy was implemented, the number of teachers in Chinese higher education and senior high schools has continued growing, while because of missing data, it is difficult to track the changes in the number of junior high school teachers. In 2008, the National Development and Reform Commission put forward a series of policies regarding the issuance of educational fees. More than 90% of the students came from the central and western regions of China. The ?Policy of Free Education for Normal University Students? was implemented in smaller regions in 2008. The construction of harmonious relationships between teachers and students requires the joint efforts of schools, parents, teachers, and students. Keywords: China; junior high school teachers; primary school teachers; professional development; senior high school teachers; university teachers
