Abstract

Conceptual models of practice are important tools for occupational therapy practitioners to facilitate organisation of information, identify assessment needs, and support occupational therapy reasoning and practice processes. The Canadian Model of Occupational Performance and Engagement (CMOP-E) is a widely used occupational therapy conceptual model. In this chapter, the history of the development of the model is described and its key elements are defined. An example is provided of how the CMOP-E can be used in practice, in combination with other models, to guide occupational therapy practitioners as they work to enable occupational performance and engagement.
